Standing Up Against Unlawful Discrimination in Colorado Workplaces

Unlawful discrimination in the workplace can take many forms, including discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, and more. McCurdy & Eichstadt is here to help you fight back against these unlawful practices.

Understanding Unlawful Discrimination

Colorado’s Anti-Discrimination Act (CADA) and various federal laws protect employees from discrimination based on certain protected characteristics. If you’ve been treated unfairly, passed over for promotion, or terminated because of your race, gender, religion, or other protected status, you have the right to seek legal recourse.

Among other things, an employee (or former employee) may show that he/she was unlawfully:

(a) terminated
(b) subjected to a hostile working environment
(c) not hired
(d) treated significantly worse than others not in the protected class.

Title VII Protections

Title VII applies to employers with at least 15 employees. It prohibits workplace discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including gender and pregnancy), and national origin. These are called “protected classes” under Title VII.
